Year 6 visit the Houses of Parliament

Year 6 spent a day at the Houses of Parliament. They toured the building, learning some of it’s history, and watched a debate from the public gallery in the House of Commons. One group managed to see the House of Lords but the other group were unable to go in as the sniffer dogs were preparing the room ready for the Lords. Both groups participated in a workshop on Voting and Representation – congratulations to Prime Ministers Lacey and her cabinet!   The children then met our MP, Robert Buckland,  and asked him many interesting questions about his time in parliament and his hopes and plans for Swindon.  They were then very privileged to be able to visit 10 Downing Street and have their photos taken next to the Prime Minister’s front door.
