Happy Chinese New Year

Recently in Foundation Stage we have been celebrating Chinese New Year. We have made Chinese dragons, built Chinese houses and compared them to our own homes, made lucky red envelopes with yen inside, made Chinese lanterns, chopped vegetables to go into our stir fry (which we loved eating with our very own chopsticks!) and we all danced around the playground with instruments and scarves…

Egyptians in Year 3 & 4

Our topic this term is Egyptians! We have had an exciting start to our topic with an ancient mummy taking up residence in the studio! The children had to explore this mysterious tomb using only torches. It was a bit spooky!

Born in a Barn

KS1 and Foundation stage worked incredibly hard to put on three fantastic performances of Out of the Ark’s production, ‘Born in a Barn’. A special well done to all the Year 2s for learning their parts and projecting their voices so well. All the children across the 4 year groups performed so well and the singing was beautiful. A big thank you to all…

Year 2 – Inspirational Inventors

This term we have been learning about Inspirational Inventors. We hot-seated Alexander Graham Bell, made timelines to show how phones have changed since they were first invented and learned about different inventors. We also learned about toys from the past and present. We made our own catapult toys, played Victorian games and wrote an information page about Toys and Games from the Past using all the information that we’d learned.

The Iron Age – Year 3 and 4

During our Iron Age topic we were lucky to have an amazing visitor in early October, the children were able to experience the Iron Age with weapons and animal skins! For our WOW finisher we had an Iron Age camp fire with soup and story telling. It has been a great topic.

Autumn

Here is our amazing Autumn Display created by Ladybirds, Bumblebees and Caterpillars.

Fun in Caterpillars

Its been a busy first term for everyone in Caterpillars. We are really happy how well our new Caterpillars have settled in and how welcome our ‘old Caterpillars’ have made them feel. We have all been enjoying our beautiful learning environment which had some changes over the summer holidays. There is now far less plastic and prescriptive toys and instead has a wealth of…
