We follow the EYFS Statutory Framework (2017) and firmly believe that:

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to their full potential. Children develop quickly in the early years  and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation for children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.

(EYFS Statutory Framework, April 2017)

Caterpillar Pre-School aims to:

  • Provide high quality care and education for children below statutory school age;
  • Work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop;
  • Add to the life and well-being of its local community;
  • Offer children and their parents a service, which promotes equality and values diversity.

  • Millbrook celebrates the Royal Wedding

    We had an amazing afternoon in the beautiful weather on Friday 18th May. The event started with a family picnic on the field, with the packed lunches served in Union Jack boxes. The children then entertained the audience by taking part in various events such as the Kings and Queens Parade, maypole dancing, country dancing, singing nursery rhymes and wedding songs, a wedding hat parade, morris dancing, by our very own Millbrook Maurice Men!, and a rousing finale of traditional…

  • Pete The Dinosaur

    Bumblebees, Ladybirds and Caterpillars became paleontologists last term and learnt all about Dinosaurs! They found out so many facts, so if you need to know anything about the Jurassic or Mesozoic period, pop along to the  Foundation Stage classrooms and ask one of their experts! • Happy Chinese New Year

    Recently in Foundation Stage we have been celebrating Chinese New Year. We have made Chinese dragons, built Chinese houses and compared them to our own homes, made lucky red envelopes with yen inside, made Chinese lanterns, chopped vegetables to go into our stir fry (which we loved eating with our very own chopsticks!) and we all danced around the playground with instruments and scarves as a very long dragon! Happy Chinese New Year everyone…Kung Hei Fat Chow!

  • Born in a Barn

    KS1 and Foundation stage worked incredibly hard to put on three fantastic performances of Out of the Ark’s production, ‘Born in a Barn’. A special well done to all the Year 2s for learning their parts and projecting their voices so well. All the children across the 4 year groups performed so well and the singing was beautiful. A big thank you to all the parents and carers who came to watch.
