Caterpillar Pre-School

Caterpillars is our pre-school setting for children aged 3+. We offer up to 15 hours of universal funded pre-school education for eligible children in three hour sessions. Sessions run Monday – Friday 08:30 – 11:30 or 12:30 – 15:30 during term time (37 weeks per year). Lunch time sessions from 11.30 – 12.30 can be arranged, but please note there may be a charge for this hour if your government funding does not cover it. e.g. if you have 5 x 3 hour sessions on universal funding the extra hour would need to be paid for.

From September 2017, the government introduced additional funding for up to a total of 30 hours a week, depending on your circumstances. To check your eligibility for the additional funding please go to the following website

https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/

If you qualify you will be issued with an 11 digit eligibility code which should be entered onto the Parental Declaration Form.

Please be aware that we are unable to guarantee any additional funded hours. If you do not qualify for the addition funding all extra hours above 15 per week are charged at £3.75 per hour, we will make you aware of this before you are invoiced.

We follow the EYFS Statutory Framework (2017) and firmly believe that:

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to their full potential. Children develop quickly in the early years  and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation for children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.

(EYFS Statutory Framework, April 2017)

Caterpillar Pre-School aims to:

  • Provide high quality care and education for children below statutory school age;
  • Work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop;
  • Add to the life and well-being of its local community;
  • Offer children and their parents a service, which promotes equality and values diversity.

  • Fun in Caterpillars

    Its been a busy first term for everyone in Caterpillars. We are really happy how well our new Caterpillars have settled in and how welcome our ‘old Caterpillars’ have made them feel. We have all been enjoying our beautiful learning environment which had some changes over the summer holidays. There is now far less plastic and prescriptive toys and instead has a wealth of open ended, natural, real-life and exciting ‘open ended’ resources and curiosities. We have watched our children’s…

    Millbrook are again collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers this year which are available to collect from all Sainsbury’s stores, petrol stations and when ordering online from Wednesday 25th January. Last year we collected 6529 vouchers which enabled us to purchase some items for the outside area in KS1, this included a giant crossword connect, a camouflage wigwam and a sandbox. The more vouchers collected, the more equipment your children can benefit from in their P.E. lessons, playtime and at after school clubs, so let’s…

  • Anti-bullying Week

    The children have been busy making anti-bullying displays to put up in their classrooms to remind them of the ‘Power for Good’. The displays will help the children to understand the difference between bullying and being unkind/mean. They will also help the children to identify different types of bullying and what to do if they see bullying happening at Millbrook.

  • Happy Diwali!

    This week we have been learning about the celebration of Diwali. We have decorated Mendhi hands, made Rangoli patterns, created some fireworks displays, made Dandiya sticks to dance with and learnt some Bollywood dance moves in PE.   We were very lucky to have Mrs Ali come to visit us to talk about Diwali. She showed us how to use Henna to create a pattern on her hand. She also brought in Diva Lamps to show us. Mrs Coutinho also…
