Curriculum

At Millbrook, using the National Curriculum. we are committed to teaching a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that challenges all of our pupils and enriches their lives.

Our reading scheme is the Oxford Reading Tree from Oxford University Press, supplemented with the “Floppy’s Phonics” scheme. We use the ” Letters and Sounds” programme to teach phonics.

  • Celebrations in KS1

    Key Stage 1 have been learning about Celebrations. For the first two weeks of term, we learned all about the Hindu festival of Diwali and how it is celebrated. To finish off our learning we had our own Diwali celebration outside. We made rangoli patterns out of leaves and chalk. We acted out the story of Rama and Sita.   • Staying Healthy at Millbrook- Yr 1 & 2 football

    Millbrook Year 1 and 2 children represented the school in a football tournament against our LACT schools on Friday 23rd November.  The team were superb and won the final!  Every squad member played a game and were instrumental in the success of the team.  Lets hope they continue their love of the sport outside of school as well!

  • KS1 Library visit

    Year 1 and 2 had a great time at West Swindon Library on Monday 8th October. The children enjoyed finding fiction and non-fiction books and choosing some to take back to school. Each day the children have a vote to decide which book should be read at the end of the day. What book will be the most popular today? They walked to the library and were able to add some points to our Beat the Street total as they…

  • Millbrook celebrates the Royal Wedding

    We had an amazing afternoon in the beautiful weather on Friday 18th May. The event started with a family picnic on the field, with the packed lunches served in Union Jack boxes. The children then entertained the audience by taking part in various events such as the Kings and Queens Parade, maypole dancing, country dancing, singing nursery rhymes and wedding songs, a wedding hat parade, morris dancing, by our very own Millbrook Maurice Men!, and a rousing finale of traditional…
